Please welcome the newest member to the All Tressed Up team - Ms. Charlene T. Easter.  This was a definite Divine connection!

Charlene T. Easter has a passion for makeup and more importantly, a passion for helping women feel beautiful and confident by "enhancing" what God has already provided! Since her last semester at Virginia Commonwealth University, Charlene has been "playing in makeup," first as an intern with the Estee Lauder Companies and then as a Mary Kay Consultant providing bridal and special occasion makeup services. After taking about a five year break from makeup to focus on her full-time career, Charlene realized how much she missed the artistry as well as making personal connections with other women through beauty products. So with a renewed dedication, Charlene began pursuing professional makeup training classes and workshops and in 2007 Epiphany Beauty Professional Makeup Services was born!

Charlene has training certificates from the Virginia Makeup Artist Studio, Bennett Career Institute and Danessa Myricks’ Boot Camp as well as a M.S. degree in Human Resource Administration and B.A. degree in Merchandising/Marketing. She uses all these "tools" in creating the ultimate experience for her clients in professionalism, customer service and of course, makeup artistry! Epiphany Beauty Professional Makeup Services & Studio, located in Art Works Studios & Galleries (Studio #102), offers traditional and airbrush makeup application services for weddings, proms, special occasions, fashion events, portraits and more. She also offers Epiphany Beauty Bar (makeup parties) and Epiphany Beauty School (workshops and one-on-one training sessions) services for everyday women and teens.

Curls: Goddess Curls

In one of the Weekly Webcam styles (Twisty Locs) I used Curls: Goddess Curl Gel to set my twists.  I wanted to try something different so I hopped on over to Target and snagged this goodness.  The thing I like about this product is the fact that it contains no parabens, mineral oil, sulfates, silicones or petrolatum oils.  It worked very well on my hair and did not have the crunchy effect of many gels.  Firm, but not so crunchy.

Ingredient Profile: Amla

It is not uncommon that after reading an ingredient list that we stumble upon an ingredient that makes you go "Hmmm".  Well, the ingredient that has triggered my curiosity is Amla (or Indian Gooseberry).

In my quest to nurture my natural beauty from the inside, I thought you may benefit from the findings.  As we approach the new year, I thought it may also be a great idea to actually engage in an Amla experience.

Native to India, this vitamin C rich fruit is filled with antioxidants and is highly regarded in Ayurveda. Let's begin exploring the benefits of Amla from the inside out.

Health Benefits

  • Anti-microbial
  • Blood purifier
  • Decrease bad cholesterol
  • Increase good cholesterol
  • Antioxidant
  • Immunity Booster

Given that the Indian Gooseberry is native to India, how can we benefit from this highly nutritious and healing fruit?  In Ayurveda, mixing the juice of the Amla fruit with honey is considered a health tonic.  Considering its naturally bitter taste, the honey sweetens the experience.

Tip: Drink one glass of Amla juice daily
